taylor swift is the epitome of both white female mediocrity and white female fragility though, she is mediocre at best…and yet here she is, receiving praise and protection. even when white women are clearly in the wrong, they are made out to be innocent and gentle and pure in heart
points to remember:
- nicki minaj was making an excellent point about how we as a society worship and promote content that excludes women who are anything except white and slim
- she was not shading taylor. she was shading the way we think and how HER content as an artist is not given the appreciation it deserves because of that
- taylor jumped in and made it about herself
- she shifted the focus from the important issue nicki was bringing up to what the media will term a “feud” between the two
- taylor using the “stop pitting women against each other” phrase was completely irrelevant and an obvious way of using feminism to deflect criticism of her
- taylor was WRONG. being her fan does not make it okay to defend her when she is wrong
Zendaya for Harper’s Bazaar 2015 (LQ)
honestly this night has gone above and beyond all my expectations like zayn shows up looking probably the brownest he has ever looked with that buzzed hair and nose piercing and with his beautiful mother by his side (mama’s boy!! :’)), he got a selfie with SRK (WHO CALLED HIM A COOL GUY!!! AND SAID MAY ALLAH BLESS HIM!!! I AM STILL DEAD!!), he won the outstanding achievement in music award and KILLED it giving his speech like he was so humble and the pure delight on his face when he made the audience laugh is the single cutest thing i have every seen he was so pleased lmao
and he THANKED THE BOYS and called them FOUR OF THE BEST PEOPLE HE’S EVER KNOWN and and he MENTIONED SRK and he acknowledged his parents and thanked them for making him ASIAN
i don’t have the words to express how happy this has made me after this fucking miserable last month
zayn is so so important, he’s out here being successful and accomplished and paving the way for young desis and muslims to be unapologetically who they are, i’m so inspired and SO proud of him :’)
Your body is made of the same elements that lionesses are built from. Three quarters of you is the same kind of water that beats rocks to rubble, wears stones away. Your DNA translates into the same twenty amino acids that wolf genes code for. When you look in the mirror and feel weak, remember, the air you breathe in fuels forest fires capable of destroying everything they touch. On the days you feel ugly, remember: diamonds are only carbon. You are so much more.
Lina Viktor is a New York-based fine artist & painter from London who uses patterns, symbolism, and iconography to address grand archetypes and concepts of infinity, greatness, and transcendence. Her acuminous paintings are composed of original black, white, and gold patterns that are gilded with 24-karat gold directly onto the canvas, amplifying the ornate sensibility that informs the framework of her riotous, powerful images.
Since her recent emergence, she has exhibited her work alongside Andy Warhol, Takashi Murakami, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Peter Beard, Tom Sachs, & Ryan McGinley, and has sold all of her paintings to date. (source)
